Some golf courses in Malaysia are tight looking, and you then thankfully discover only a few holes fit the description. But that's not the case at the Awana Genting Highlands Golf & Country Resort, located within the very popular Genting Highlands holiday and entertainment resort.

The Awana Genting golf course layout exudes undulating tightness from start to finish. Drama, excitement and an environment of jungle-clad hills all await. When you get to the 12-meter wide fairway at the very tight par-4 14th, you'll be begging for more space from the tee, but the closing stretch will keep demanding your straightest game.

Anything severely off-line is unlikely to be seen again, with thick jungle and dangerous water hazards lying in wait. Although the presence of water is infrequent, your nerve will be tested at the par-3's, especially with ponds to cross directly in front of the 4th and 15th greens. Accompanying the tight, tree-lined holes, (where many fir trees are mixed in with indigenous and much broader leaved jungle species), are some spectacular elevation changes, and many memorable views. The backdrop at the par-4 3rd is jaw-dropping, with the Genting Highlands hotel and entertainment complex perched 4000 feet above you at the top of the jungle-clad mountain.

Risk-reward shots are regular at this layout. Those choosing the safer options, supported by accurate shot placement and proper course management, will generally triumph over opponents trying to overpower this very scenic, well-presented and continuously challenging layout. Coping with the usually two-tier greens will also be a significant factor in determining a score of how many shots over handicap you score.
