La Thaïlande a accueilli de nombreux tournois de classe mondiale attirant des joueurs tels que Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, et Colin Montgomerie sur des terrains comme le Blue Canyon de Phuket, le Thai Country Club et l’Alpine Golf Club de Bangkok. Le Thai Country Club a été sélectionné pour recevoir l’Asian Volvo Masters pour les 3 prochaines années.
Après un bref ralentissement dû à la crise économique de 1997, le développement de terrains de championnat a repris à un rythme phénoménal. Le pays compte actuellement plus de 200 terrains, chiffre qui va rapidement atteindre les 250 avec l’accélération de la création de nouveaux sites.
