Hanoi is a city of captivating contrasts. It is a place where French colonial villas sit beside ancient pagodas, and where the chaotic energy of the Old Quarter gives way to the serene mist of mountain fairways. Unlike the flat, palm-lined courses of the south, Hanoi offers a dramatic, “Scottish-style” golfing experience with cool winters, rolling hills, and deep forests. Many of the region’s best courses are located around dramatic lakes or nestled in the “Ha Long Bay on Land” limestone landscapes, making every round a visual masterpiece. For the golfer who wants culture, history, and a serious challenge, Hanoi is the ultimate destination.
BRG Kings Island Golf Resort (Kings Course) Golf by Boat The experience starts before you even hit a ball. To reach Kings Island, you take a private speedboat across the Dong Mo Reservoir—a ritual that leaves the noise of the city behind. While the resort has 54 holes, the Kings Course (designed by Jack Nicklaus II) is the jewel in the crown.
The 19th Hole. Yes, an extra par-3 hole played to an island green with a waterfall backdrop. It is designed specifically to settle bets at the end of the round.
Thanh Lanh Valley Golf & Resort The Fairytale Setting Opened in 2021, Thanh Lanh has quickly become a “must-play.” Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, the course sits in a secluded valley surrounded by mountains and a massive lake. The most striking feature, however, is the clubhouse designed to look like a medieval European castle.
The tranquility. The course is routed along the lake’s edge with significant elevation changes, but no two holes feel alike. It feels like playing in a private kingdom.
Sky Lake Resort & Golf Club (Sky Course) The Best in the North Widely regarded as one of the best courses in Vietnam, the Sky Course is a beast. Managed by IMG, it winds through natural jungle and offers dramatic views of the Hanoi skyline in the distance. The fairways are wide, but the undulating greens and elevation changes demand your best game.
The 15th Hole, named “Dien Bien Phu” after the historic battle. It’s a risk-reward challenge that summarizes the course’s difficulty and beauty.
• Bun Cha:
Forget Pho for a moment Hanoi is the home of Bun Cha (grilled pork with noodles and herbs). Visit Bun Cha Huong Lien, where Anthony Bourdain famously took President Obama.
• Egg Coffee:
This unique Hanoian creation (coffee topped with creamy, whisked egg yolk) tastes like liquid tiramisu. Try it at the original Giang Café.
• Cha Ca:
A turmeric-marinated fish dish cooked table-side with dill. Cha Ca La Vong is the historic spot to try it.
• The Old Quarter:
Get lost (intentionally) in the maze of 36 streets, each named after the trade practiced there (Silver Street, Silk Street, etc.). A Cyclo (bicycle rickshaw) tour is the best way to see it.
• Ha Long Bay:
It is a 2.5-hour drive from Hanoi. We highly recommend a day trip or overnight cruise to see the UNESCO limestone karsts. It is a bucket-list experience.
• Water Puppet Show:
It sounds touristy, but this 11th-century art form is unique to the Red River Delta and is a charming way to spend an evening.

It gets cold! Temperatures can drop to 10°C-15°C with a mystical mist/fog in the mornings.
Golf Conditions:
Unique. It feels like playing in Scotland or Northern California. Pack a sweater and windbreaker.
The Vibe:
Warmer days return, and the flowers bloom.
Golf Conditions:
Excellent, though occasional light drizzle (crachin) can occur.
Hanoi’s traffic is legendary we take the stress out of it.
The best courses (like Sky Lake and Kings Island) are 45-60 minutes from the city. Our private drivers know the traffic patterns and ensure you never miss a tee time.
Courses like Sky Lake are semi-private. We hold blocks of tee times for our guests, even on weekends.
English is less widely spoken in the north than in Saigon. Our local guides handle check-ins, restaurant orders, and any on-course requests.
