The most improved Chiang Mai golf course features gently rolling fairways, mature trees, and water hazards. Like many newly designed courses, there are both challenging routes to the greens for accomplished golfers and more straight layup areas on most holes. Well-maintained turf, drainage, and greenside hazards have been the focus for the challenging course, with water hazards on many holes; Gassan Legacy rewards accuracy over distance.

The five par-3 holes vary from 110 to 180 yards from the white tees, and most golfers will use a different club on each. The five par-5 holes include a straightforward opening hole that isn’t as menacing as what is to come and allows the golfer to get off to a good start.

Gassan Legacy contains plenty of water hazards, and distinctive bunkering weaved into the challenging and continuously exciting layout. Big hitters can take on a few par-4 holes in one, but pin-point accuracy is needed nearer the greens to avoid costly three putts. There are plenty of risk-reward opportunities on the par-5 holes too. The threat of water and expansive bunkering is ever present in most holes, and Gassan Legacy Golf Club also rewards thoughtful play over pure power.

The unique clubhouse makes for an excellent place for after-golf snacks and drinks, though its facilities are modest for western golfers. Enjoy golfing at Gassan Legacy and play one of the best-conditioned Chiang Mai golf courses. Newly installed floodlights facilitate early tee-off and play after dark.

Good course to start my Golfasian vacation on. This course was an easier play than most of the other courses. My caddie was very good, and, as I later learned, played golf better than I do. I arranged to play with her on a couple of occasions, and she beat me on 13 holes of Gassan Khuntan. But it was great to have a playing partner.
