Lao Country Club

The Vientiane course boasts an impressive 35 meters elevation change between the highest and lowest holes. Fairways undulate gently, with mostly level lies that make walking easy. Water is everywhere on this course and creates a distraction if not careful. The first hole hints at how the day will end, and avoiding water is a good start. 

Standout hole twelve features water on all sides. The tee boxes and the fairway's left and right sides shy off the green. At the final 75 yards from the pin, there is lateral water to the right, so be keen not to get wet. The hole is strategic since it is characteristic of how the rest of the course plays. Specific teeing grounds have front water pools, though this is more psychological and cosmetic than a strategic barrier as the distance of carrying hazards is relatively modest.

Fairways at Lao Country Club are somewhat generous, judging from the tees, and well-placed bunkers are within landing areas. Close-cut Bermuda green grass facilitates comfortable green speed during play, with no non-native grasses encroaching.

Facilities at Lao CC are modest, though adequate, for most visitors. The course is popular with locals, so weekends are best kept for off-days or sightseeing around Vientiane.
