Golfasian - Asian Golf Holiday Experts in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos & Myanmar
More than 500 golfers representing 23 countries have arrived in Thailand for the inaugural Centara World Masters Golf Championship, starting in Hua Hin today (Sunday). The sell-out event is a welcome boon to Thailand’s tourism which has seen many events and conferences cancelled in recent months. The tournament has attracted big numbers from Australia, Singapore, India and New Zealand. The event’s international appeal has brought golfers from France, Germany, the United States and United Kingdom. South East Asia is well represented with 85 players, including eight from host country Thailand. The Centara World Masters is open to golfers aged 35 and over, with competition across 14 divisions based on age and handicap. Golfers will play the country’s top-ranking Black Mountain, Banyan, Majestic Creek and Imperial Lake View golf clubs and will compete for more than 1 million Thai baht in prizes. The governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Khun Thawatchai Arunyik, is delighted the city of Hua Hin is hosting Asia’s biggest and richest tournament for club golfers. “We are delighted to be welcoming golfers from all of the world to Thailand and Hua Hin to compete in the Centara World Masters Golf Championship,” he said. “Last year Hua Hin was voted the best golf destination in Asia and Australasia and the Centara World Masters will showcase the destination’s golf and tourism experiences on a scale never seen before. Many participants are extending their stay in Thailand to visit Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket among other centres. The Centara World Masters is expected to inject more than 55 million baht into the Thai economy.” Host hotel, the Centara Grand Beach Resort and Villas Hua Hin, is and is fully booked with event participants. Tonight a traditional Thai Temple Fair will be hosted poolside at Centara Hua Hin to welcome golfers and partners. Each night Centara will host social and entertainment events supported by Chang and Coca Cola. Festivities culminate with a colourful beach party and presentation dinner on Friday evening, supported by the City of Hua Hin. The Centara World Masters is a join initiative between Australian-based Go Golfing and Bangkok-based golf tour operator, Golfasian. Its managing director, Mark Siegel, is delighted with the turnout. “To achieve sell-out in the first year is just wonderful, especially considering recent challenges to Thailand’s tourism,” he said. “We have made bookings to accommodate 700 players for next year’s event from June 14-20, 2015.” Photo: Tournament organiser, Peter McCarthy (left) with TAT governor, Khun Thawatchai Arunyik, and Golfasian managing director, Mark Siegel before the event began.

    • GolfAsian was for us the perfect organization. The ease in which we could plan the trip. The selected golfcourses were of good quality and tailored to our wishes. The services like pick-up from the hotel and assistance of the driver in the clubhouse were perfect and always on-time! We really felt taken care of.
We will use GolfAsian next time again, for sure!

    • Just back from a 4 night trip to Phuket for 54 holes of golf, at Blue Canyon (Lakes Course), Laguna and Loch Palm. All fantastically organised (flights excluded) by Win. We started with 7 people went down to 5 and then back up to six, and then 1 departing a day early. All the changes were handled smoothly and with out complaint by the Golfasian team. From arrival to departure everything was smooth and on time. I've already recommended their services to another group looking for a trip later in the year. This group will be back again. Thank you to all involved.
