The 10th running of the Honda LPGA Thailand saw forty nine of the World’s top 50 female golfers descend on Siam Country Club’s Old Course competing for a record US$1.6million.
Lexi Thompson claimed her seventh LPGA title in impressive fashion at the 2016 Honda LPGA Thailand and shot a final-round 4-under 68 for a six-shot victory over reigning U.S. Women’s Open champion In Gee Chun.
With this win, Thompson moves to No. 3 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings and surpasses Stacy Lewis as the top-ranked American.
With nine Thais on the full LPGA tour interest in golf here in Thailand is very strong. Pattaya is perhaps the ideal place to host this major global sporting event as they love their golf here with over 26 top courses all within 60 minutes from the city.
The Old Course was in first class condition and was praised by all the players as one of the best tracks on tour, with the par 5 18th hole providing more drama than a Thai soap opera.
Good news for golf tourism is the fact that the tournament was seen by over 172 countries on live TV and the organisers said that attendance was up by a massive 15% with over 13,000 watching on the final day.
- Four friends, 6 rounds of golf in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. Arrangements by GolfAsian were great and all courses were different but good quality. All transfer drivers were helpful and punctual but our favourite was "Johnson" in KL. Minor criticisms - water was not supplied and our first 9 at Kota Permai was marred by major fairway renovation. All in all we had a fun time and we will be back.

Andrew McGlade - Niki at GolfAsian Thailand put together our golf itinerary on extremely short notice and every part of the experience was efficient and smooth. From organizing the itinerary, managing payments, being picked up at the hotel by fantastic drivers (Sombat and Rocky in Hua Hin are great!), picked up after our round in a timely manner...all of it was fantastic! I recommend you email or call Golfasian directly because my first encounter with them through their online chat was absolutely awful. But I gave them a second chance and Niki came to our rescue. We couldn't be happier and will definitely use GA again!
Therese Tee - Went with my brother and our non-golfing wives on a weeklong golf and cultural holiday in Hanoi. Superb attention to detail by Sophie who was very patient as we made several changes prior to finalization of booking. Drivers were very prompt and friendly. Tour guide "Hiro" who led us to an exploration of Hanoi military history was awesome and we learned so much from him. Played Dai Lai Star and BRG Legend, great design and scenery. Enjoyed also our cruise of Halong Bay. Just wish we had the time to play another round or 2. We are now planning a golf trip to either Penang, Phuket or Yogyakarta and cant wait to use GolfAsian again.
