Summit Green Valley Chiang Mai Country Club, crafted by renowned architect Denis Griffiths, offers a meticulously maintained golfing experience just 20 minutes from Chiang Mai's vibrant center. This course, nestled in the picturesque lowlands, showcases the unique landscapes of Northern Thailand, with hundreds of palm trees and stunning mountain vistas framing each hole.
Stretching to 7,200 yards from the back tees, Summit Green Valley presents a formidable challenge with its strategic sand bunkers and water hazards that come into play on nearly every hole. Despite the wide appearance of the palm-lined fairways, precision is key, as the landing areas are cleverly guarded. The greens are expansive and receptive, with a moderate to slightly fast pace, while the course's length, elevation changes, and prevailing winds provide a fair test for golfers of all abilities.
A standout feature is the 416-yard, par-4 9th hole, where golfers must navigate a water carry off the tee and a second shot to an elevated island green, surrounded by towering palms. This hole exemplifies the course's blend of beauty and challenge.
The clubhouse at Summit Green Valley offers comprehensive amenities, including a well-stocked Pro Shop, dining facilities, and professional staff, ensuring a comfortable visit. Its proximity to the airport and city center makes it an ideal choice for those looking to enjoy a round of golf upon arrival or before departure from Chiang Mai.

The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club & Resort, built in 1996 and around 40 minutes north of town, is one of the original modern-day Chiang Mai golf courses. The layout is well-suited for the amateur and professional golfer alike. The most striking feature of the golf course itself is the abundance of greenery and mature trees while still keeping in harmony with the natural scenery and rolling countryside.
Set within a valley and surrounded by mountains, Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club & Resort is a course of natural beauty and incorporates waterfalls, streams, and an abundance of landscaping. The Chiangmai golf course sits on the site of a former fruit orchard and as such has one of the most abundant varieties of trees found on any Thailand golf course. Thousands of flowering trees with different fragrances and colors throughout the year dot every hole. The higher Chiang Mai altitude provides a colder, less humid climate, clear air, and gentle breezes. There is a plethora of wildlife including many species of local birds.
The Five-time British Open Champion, Peter Thomson designed the Royal Chiang Mai course. The short 6969-yard course is missing a set of the back (black tees), but it more than makes up for the lack of distance with the clever use of many of the elements from a British links style course. Bumpy fairways, pot bunkers, and closely mowed areas around the greens feature through the site. This shorter course rewards ball placing accuracy rather than long shots and ensures a challenging game for both beginner and golf professional alike.
Strategically placed and high-lipped greenside bunkers come into play on every hole. Moreover, elevated greens mean that the distances to the greens are deceptive and there is a tendency to under club. Lakes, streams, and waterfalls come into play on most holes. All of the par-3s are signature holes, but the best hole on the course is by far the long par-5 seventh. Walk away with a par, and it is a sign of a good score to come.
All 18 holes blend well together to offer a unique challenge in natural settings. After the round, there is a beautiful view from the clubhouse. Although having seen better days and not the highlight of the golf course, the clubhouse features a full range of facilities including a golfer’s terrace. There is also an onsite golf resort, albeit catering more to locals than overseas visitors.
Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club & Resort is well-suited for golfers looking for a relaxed day out in natural settings.

Chiang Mai Inthanon Golf Course & Nature Resort invites you to experience a truly unforgettable golfing adventure, nestled amidst the lush tropical fruit orchards south of Chiang Mai. Since its opening in 2009, the course has been meticulously crafted with a rugged design, offering a delightful variety of hole layouts that cater to all skill levels. You’ll immediately notice the immaculate condition of its Bermuda grass fairways, providing a pristine playing surface. More than just a game, playing here feels like stepping into nature's embrace, with the crisp, clean mountain air filling your lungs as you wander through the beautiful landscape. It’s a place where the joy of golf truly connects with the serenity of the surroundings, promising a refreshing escape.
Prepare to be captivated by the awe-inspiring, unobstructed views of Doi Inthanon, Thailand's majestic tallest peak, which graces nearly every hole. The expansive fairways offer ample room to unleash your drives, but be mindful of the strategically placed, challenging bunkers that add an exciting element of risk and reward. Several charming creeks meander gracefully through the course, adding to the natural beauty and demanding precise shot-making, as water comes into play on a remarkable 12 of its 18 holes. While the opening holes offer a welcoming start, don't let their generosity lull you into complacency; the formidable 15th and 16th holes present a true test of your golfing prowess, offering some of the most demanding yet rewarding golf in all of Thailand.
The grand finale at Chiang Mai Inthanon Golf Course & Nature Resort is an absolute masterpiece, with the 17th and 18th holes being the crowning jewels of its scenic beauty. The signature 17th, in particular, offers a breathtaking experience: teeing off over a shimmering lake towards a dogleg right fairway, guarded by bunkers on both sides. Your approach shot to the elevated green will demand accuracy, but the reward is a panorama so stunning, it perfectly encapsulates the essence of golfing in Chiang Mai. After your round, relax in the clubhouse, enjoy a delicious meal, and savor the panoramic views of the course and Doi Inthanon. The course promises a golfing experience that will refresh your spirit and leave you with cherished memories.

Located just 20 minutes from Chiang Mai, Mae Jo Golf Club offers a strategic layout that appeals to golfers seeking both challenge and enjoyment. Designed by renowned Thai architect Seni Thirawat, this course is nestled within the grounds of Mae Jo University, providing a unique blend of academic charm and natural beauty.
The course is framed by stunning views of Doi Suthep and surrounding mountains, presenting a picturesque backdrop as you navigate the tree-lined fairways. Thousands of fruit trees and orchids enhance the visual appeal, particularly around the kiosk at the 14th hole and the tee at the 15th, both offering breathtaking vistas.
Mae Jo's design caters to players of all skill levels, with narrow Zoysia grass fairways challenging low handicappers. The course features several water hazards, doglegs, and long par 5s that demand precision and strategic play. The expansive Korean Velvet grass greens are subtly sloped, adding an extra layer of complexity to your putting game.
The clubhouse, styled in modern Lanna architecture, provides a comfortable retreat with a restaurant and golf lodge offering warm hospitality. Before teeing off, golfers can utilize the extensive practice facilities, including a driving range, putting and chipping greens, and bunkers, ensuring a well-rounded golfing experience.

The North Hill Golf Club was formerly a 9-hole private course which opened for play in 2011. In 2014, the Chiang Mai tract expanded to 18-holes and the following year opened for visitor play.
Mint conditions normally found at private members clubs make for smooth golfing. Panoramic Doi Suthep scenery adds to the enjoyment. The flattish course is quite good for beginners as it is not difficult and is located quite conveniently to Chiang Mai city center and also the Chiang Mai airport. North Hill Golf Club is a good par 72 layout.
The stylish clubhouse is also a nice touch, albeit a little smaller than most other Chiang Mai golf courses. Facilities include bar, restaurant, spa, fitness center, driving range, and pro-shop. Attentive and informative staff and caddies cater to all golfers needs.
The top draw at North Hill is the excellent golf course maintenance, and for this reason alone it is one of the best golf experiences in Chiang Mai.
Insiders Tip: Try the on-site restaurant after a round at North Hill. It's worthy of a Michelin Star!

The Chiang Mai Highlands Golf Club opened in 2005 and significantly added to the quality of Chiang Mai golf courses. The drive to Highlands from Chiang Mai leads through the stunning landscape, in an eastern direction passing rice fields and plantations into the mountains.
The Chiang Mai Highlands golf course is built on a 'power spot' - the hermitage of Kuba Sivichai (the revered monk who founded the famous Doi Suthep temple). This site is breathtaking in every direction. Its tranquility, high elevation, cold climate, fresh air, pure water, and fertile soil, form the perfect place for the 27-hole layout.
Lee Schmidt of Schmidt-Curley Design from the USA and the same designer as Mission Hills, Amata Spring, and Siam CC was the course's mastermind. After only two years of operation, Chiangmai Highlands catapulted onto the international golf scene as one of the best golf experiences in Asia. Since then Chiangmai Highlands has won many prestigious awards. In 2007, Chiang Mai Highlands Golf & Spa Resort was voted #3 for 'Best New Golf Course in Asia' by Asian Golf Monthly. In 2013, the same publication awarded Chiang Mai Highlands as the 'Best Value for Money Golf Course in Asia” and the “Best Golf Resort in Asia” followed in 2015.
The Highlands course itself is exciting and challenging for a player of any level and offers the choice of 5 different tee boxes. Featuring Paspalum grassed fairways and Tiff-eagle grass greens ensure excellent hitting surfaces and faster more consistent greens year round. The bunker complexes are deep and punishing, but lend a nice contrast to frame each hole. In fact, the course features over 130 fairway and greenside bunkers, most all with high front edges.
The greens at Chiangmai Highlands are undulated and typically run around ten on the Stimp-meter. The greens are firm yet receptive and hold well-struck iron shots. Many greens slope front to back which pressurizes golfers to pay more attention to strategy and utilize local caddie knowledge to putt in regulation.
The approach areas around green complexes often feature strictly mown catchment areas giving the golfer many options of playing either a chip-and-run, pitch shot or even putting the ball up onto the green surface. Imagination is a terrific asset when trying to get up and down at Chiangmai Highlands.
The golfing experience starts with the downhill hole #1. Magnificent views of the entire course and the mountain skyline are evident in the background. After the 'inviting' 1st hole, the golf course effortlessly flows along, gaining strength, beauty, and character with each passing hole. Another standout is the thrilling and unforgettable 18th. The short downhill par-5 can be reached in 2 by long hitters, although most golfers prefer a lay-up in front of the broad river that crosses the fairway before playing an uphill chip for an easy par.
The 4C hole is as good as they come. A long par-4 with a sharp dogleg right, the tee shot requires careful placement left of the fairway bunkers. Then, the long iron or hybrid approach left navigates away from the bunkers and water right of the green. A well-struck shot is an excellent birdie opportunity.
A Thai-styled clubhouse with a pleasant atmosphere and all facilities provide relaxation before or after the golf round. Locker rooms are basic but are adequate nevertheless. Chiang Mai Highlands has a superbly maintained practice facility including several practice greens, a short game area and a 300-yard driving range with grass tees. There is a small on-site Thai resort with private cottages for those wanting to stay in the countryside and play multiple rounds at Chiang Mai Highlands.
Overall Chiang Mai Highlands is one of the best golf experiences in Thailand and a “must-play” as part of any Chiang Mai golf holiday.
