The first event for 2013 of the Thailand Amateur Golf Week Series hosted by Golfasian, teed off in the seaside resort of Hua Hin on 3rd March, 2013. The event is a 7 nights / 4 rounds golf tournament with prizes for daily winners, overall winners as well as prizes for Closest to the Pins and best 9 hole scores. The event started off with a welcome dinner at The Hilton Hotel in the Terrace restaurant with an international buffet and was finished off with Black Mountain Golf Club hosting a buffet dinner with fabulous view overlooking the golf course.
This year’s event attracted 48 golfers from around the world. It was the 4th event that has been held in Hua Hin and the word is getting out about the great courses available to play in Thailand
Golfers contested the event at the best two courses in Hua Hin, Banyan Golf Club (Voted No 1 2009 Best New Course in Asia) and Black Mountain Golf Club (2011 Royal Trophy and host to European PGA Event Black Mountain Masters)
Director of Golf Events for Golfasian, Mark Penfold, was with the group this year and noted that it was the largest field that had been assembled in Hua Hin and the trend is growing for the Thailand Amateur Golf Week series
“Each event we are seeing an increase of around 30% on the previous events, and now with 6 events through the year, golfers are flocking to the 5 main golf destinations to play the best that Thailand has on offer” commented Mark.
“Each event, we offer a range of 3, 4 and 5 star accommodation and we seed the top four golfers for the final day of the event and this year we had an American, Singaporean, Philippino and Australian, add to this, golfers from Poland, Dubai, South Africa and Denmark, makes it quite an international field.”
The next event of the Thailand Amateur Golf Week schedule is in Phuket in 21-28th July, followed by Cambodia in August. For full details of all the events we have during 2013 visit http://tournaments.golfasian.com/
