It is the long-time host of the Singapore Open and is consistently ranked among the world’s top 100. The layout is brutal but beautiful, with huge lakes, stone-lined walls, and a view of the Singapore skyline and container port that is unique in the world of golf.
The “Dragon’s Tail” (Holes 4-6). A punishing stretch of holes playing around a lagoon that can wreck your scorecard early.
Laguna National Golf Resort Club (Masters Course) The “Andy Dye” Challenge Laguna National is a heavyweight in the region. The Masters Course, designed by Andy Dye, is famously difficult and stylish. It features Dye’s signature waste bunkers, railroad ties, and undulating greens. It has hosted European and Asian Tour events, rewarding precision and punishing errant shots with no mercy.
Tanah Merah Country Club (Tampines Course) The Immaculate Garden Located just minutes from Changi Airport, Tanah Merah is synonymous with prestige. The Tampines Course has recently undergone a major renovation to become a modern championship test with large, rolling greens and pristine fairways. Despite being next to the airport, it feels like a tranquil botanical garden.
The Pot Bunkers. The new design features revetted bunkers that look like they were airlifted straight from Scotland.
• Chilli Crab:
The national dish. Mud crabs stir-fried in a semi-thick, sweet and savory tomato-and-chilli sauce. Go to Jumbo Seafood or Long Beach and order deep-fried buns (mantou) to mop up the sauce.
• Hawker Centers:
Skip the fancy restaurants one night and head to Lau Pa Sat (for satay in the street) or Newton Food Centre (famous from the movie Crazy Rich Asians).
• Chicken Rice:
Simple perfection. Try the stall at Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice at Maxwell Food Centre.
• Gardens by the Bay:
Walk through the Cloud Forest dome and see the Supertree Grove light up at night. It is unlike anything else on Earth.
• Marina Bay Sands:
Visit the SkyPark Observation Deck for a 360-degree view of the city and the F1 track.
