Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club, situated in Thailand's northeastern province, offers a unique golfing experience just 400 kilometers from Bangkok. Originally transformed from a marshland, this par-72 championship course stretches 7,502 yards from the tees, providing a formidable challenge for skilled players. As a regular host of the Asian Tour's King's Cup since 2009, it has established itself as a key venue on the professional circuit.
The course layout is an 18-hole exploration through nine lakes, with fairways that naturally contour the landscape. Golfers will encounter native stones, expansive sand bunkers, and local flora that enhance both the aesthetic appeal and the strategic demands of play. The course features a variety of holes, including challenging par-3s and accessible par-5s, with water hazards influencing play on sixteen holes. Notable holes include the par-3 13th, where a bogey is a commendable score, and the 7th, a par-5 that rewards precision over power.
The clubhouse at Singha Park is a modern architectural marvel, offering a comfortable retreat with award-winning design. Enjoy dining options that include an air-conditioned restaurant and an alfresco balcony overlooking key greens. The clubhouse also features luxurious locker rooms and a well-stocked pro shop, ensuring a complete and satisfying golfing experience.

Living organic like my kin in MEKIN FARM.
Just a 45-minute drive from Khon Kaen, you'll find the farm of Pu-Chongrak, an owner who excels in permaculture. She cultivates a variety of fruits and vegetables while also raising ducks and chickens. Pu-Chongrak then uses straightforward cooking methods to enhance the natural tastes of these ingredients, creating dishes such as her duck egg omelet and steamed Nile tilapia, a local catch, accompanied by a zesty sauce. You'll have the opportunity to pick some ingredients directly from the organic garden and prepare them along with products sourced from neighboring communities. The guiding principle is straightforward: 'We cook with what we have,' meaning the menu is only finalized a few days beforehand. Meals are enjoyed in an open-air pavilion or beneath the shade of trees. Private transfers included.

This morning's itinerary includes a visit to the Treasury Museum, your primary source for understanding the evolution of Thai currency and its connection to the economic and social progress of the Northeastern Region and Khon Kaen specifically, from historical times to the present day. The building now housing the museum formerly served as the Bank of Thailand's Northeastern Region branch before being renovated by the Treasury Department. On the second floor, you'll find an extensive exhibition detailing the history of Khon Kaen. Please note that the museum is closed on Mondays.
Following this, you will proceed to Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon. This impressive 80-meter tall, 9-story chedi, constructed in the 1990s, is situated within the grounds of the Wang Nong Waeng royal temple, which dates back to 1793. Inside, a relic of Buddha is enshrined. A 9-tiered staircase, guarded by naga figures, ascends to the top of the temple, offering sweeping vistas of the city and Kaen Nakorn Lake. Be sure to appreciate the Jataka tales, depicting the life of Buddha, intricately carved into the wooden doors and windows, and seek out the dinosaur motif, a regional symbol, incorporated into the mosaics.
Your final exploration will take you to Wat Thung Setthi, a temple that stands apart from typical Thai religious sites due to its striking white exterior adorned with gold and blue accents, a departure from the customary gold and red seen across the Kingdom. The temple is enveloped by rice fields, and its location is believed to be a sacred nexus where the three realms of heaven, earth, and the underworld converge.
The day concludes with lunch at Krua Supanniga by Khunyai Somsie, a restaurant recognized by the Michelin Guide. Named after the Supanniga flower, Krua Supanniga by Khunyai first opened its doors in Khon Kaen in 2002. Spearheaded by Thanaruek (Eh) Laoraowirodge and his mother, the establishment was founded on the principle of preserving the authentic recipes of Eastern Thai cuisine passed down from his grandmother, Khunyai Somsie Jantra, and sharing this culinary heritage with those who crave genuine Eastern Thai flavors. A highly recommended dish is the chamuang pork, a tender stewed pork dish featuring the distinctively tart flavor of Chamuang leaves.
