Opened in 1988, Royal Ratchaburi is one of the most spectacular golf courses in the Kanchanaburi area. The hilly terrain and excellent views of Burmese mountain ranges make for aesthetically pleasing yet challenging golf.

Greens are some of the best-kept in the Kanchanaburi area. Royal Ratchaburi fairways follow the contours of the hills and play for the most part up and down.

The front nine has mostly wider fairways than the back nine, which is considered more challenging. Some excellent but short par-3 holes require precise shots over deep canyons.

The clubhouse, locker rooms, restaurant, and practice facilities are basic, but that is not what the golfers come to Ratchaburi for anyway. Locals consider this a hidden gem of a course and one of the best in the River Kwai area. Royal Ratchaburi is an excellent course for those traveling between Kanchanaburi and Hua Hin.

Local tip: Troops of monkeys can be found in several holes, including the opener, so golfers should beware of any “missing” well-stuck balls.

Enjoyed the course it was a lot of fun. The caddies oddly enough were unprepared for the monkeys and they did not inform us. Lucky for us the monkeys did not take any of our belongings but did take a caddies bag off into the jungle. We quickly zipped up our things in our golf bags after that as we had passports, phone and wallet and we had not checked into our hotel. They should inform golfers of the monkeys and I would suggest they have 1 caddie stay by the carts to ward off the monkeys as they came into our carts a number of times. That is my only suggestion but we enjoyed it

Very good course lay out. I think the greens had some sort of disease in them, very inconsistent. Excellent caddies.

Great experience with GolfAsian for our Phuket golf trip. Fantastic advice on location and timing for our trip to get the best weather and conditions. Service was great and everything ran smoothly. Golfasian organised a 17 day trip to Vietnam including 4 games of golf, tours and internal flights to three cities and a cruise. The trip was seamless and everything was organised and executed perfectly. Our cruise was cancelled due to a Typhoon and the people at Golfasian instantly organised transport and accommodation for us they couldn’t have been more helpful. I will definitely be on using Golfasian again for our annual golf holiday.

We booked 3 rounds of golf with Golfasian from Australia — one round from Bangkok and two from Pattaya — and honestly, the whole experience was excellent.

From hotel pick-ups and drop-offs to transfers and tee times, everything just worked. It was seamless, well organised, and completely stress-free. We didn’t have to think about logistics at all — just turn up and enjoy the golf.

A special mention to Arina, who greeted us at RG City Golf Club. She’s part of the operations team and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. Little things like that make a big difference. She acted as our translator at times and can speak fluent Thai , English and even German.

Through her, we learnt about the regular golf events Golfasian runs almost monthly, which sound like a great option if you want organised golf with a good social vibe. Worth checking out their website for more details.

Golfasian has become our go to company for our group golf trips over recent years and this years visit to Danang, Vietnam did not disappoint. The recommendation from Golfasian to choose the Fusion hotel with daily spa access was a winner with our wives while the golfers enjoyed playing golf at 4 different courses all in close proximity to the Hotel. We also enjoyed a number of site seeing trips to places of interest such as Ba Na Hills and the golden bridge, the Imperial city of Hue & Hoi An which were all arranged by Golfasian including local guide and very safe drivers.

Golf Asian is a good provider in Thailand. They have good staff and the service is great. Just make sure you research their facilities before agreeing. Compare actual costs of hotel and courses against their quotation. Need to research before you book. Does the hotel suit your needs? Is the location good for how you want to spend your non golf time? Are the courses worth the cost?
