Damai Golf and Country Club is a truly exceptional golfing destination, proudly holding the distinction of being Malaysia's first golf course designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer. Since its opening in 1996, this Sarawak gem has captivated golfers with its stunning natural beauty and challenging layout. Nestled at the foothills of Mount Santubong, the course unfolds across a breathtaking peninsula that juts into the South China Sea. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable experience as you navigate fairways that weave through lush rainforests, skirt dramatic rocky outcrops, and even brush against serene mangrove forests. This unique setting has consistently proven itself a worthy stage for major golf events, including the Damai Challenge and the World Golf Amateur Challenge, underscoring its pedigree and appeal to discerning players.

The Damai Golf and Country Club experience is thoughtfully divided into two distinct nines, each offering a unique charm. The Mountain Nine presents a rugged and natural challenge, where the course artfully follows the contours of the mountain foothills, demanding strategic play amidst a vibrant rainforest environment. In contrast, the Ocean Nine, holes 10 through 18, embrace the allure of the South China Sea. Here, fairways are sculpted along picturesque beaches, offering panoramic views of the coastal ranges in the distance. Be prepared for small, precise greens that reward accurate approach shots, making every well-executed shot all the more satisfying. Notable holes like the 3rd, a delightful short par-3, and the challenging 8th, a lengthy par-5 nominated as one of Malaysia's toughest, promise memorable moments for every golfer.

For golfers seeking an extraordinary blend of natural beauty, challenging play, and a touch of Malaysian history, Damai Golf and Country Club is an absolute must-visit. Imagine teeing off with the vast expanse of the South China Sea as your backdrop, with the signature 17th hole offering an unparalleled test of nerve and skill as the ocean surrounds the green on three sides. Beyond the exhilarating rounds of golf, you'll find a welcoming atmosphere and all the necessary amenities, including a grass driving range, practice areas, and a cozy golfer's cafe. While the clubhouse may exude a charming, timeless feel, it perfectly complements the overall experience, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit for golfers of all levels. Come discover the magic of Sarawak's premier golfing landscape.

15 minutes from Kuching City

Kelab Golf Sarawak (Sarawak Golf Club) is your premier golf destination, conveniently located just moments from the heart of Kuching City. As the only 36-hole golf course in the entire state of Sarawak, we offer an unparalleled golfing experience for enthusiasts of all levels. Our grounds are thoughtfully divided into two distinct 18-hole courses: the Matang/Santubong (Old Course) and the Siol/Demak (New Course). Both are set on beautiful, flat terrain and are renowned for their masterful integration of challenging water hazards, promising a captivating game that will test your strategic thinking and shot-making prowess. We invite you to discover the exceptional beauty and challenge that awaits you here.

The Matang/Santubong course, affectionately known as the "Old Course," is a championship layout that proudly bears the names of Sarawak's iconic mountain ranges, Matang and Santubong, which are visible in the distance. This 6,394-meter par-72 gem is designed to sharpen your accuracy and strategic play, featuring undulating fairways of Paspalum grass and strategically placed hazards. You'll find a delightful challenge on holes like the par-3 3rd, guarded by water and bunkers, or the demanding par-4 4th with its right-hand dogleg and water hazards. Even the par-4 12th requires precision with its narrow fairway and water surrounding the green. Our signature 17th, a short par-3, presents a unique test with its lakeside setting and tricky tiered green. This course truly offers a memorable golfing journey.

For those seeking a slightly different but equally engaging challenge, the Siol/Demak course, or "New Course," offers a par-72 championship experience at 6,224 meters. Redesigned by the esteemed Nigel Douglas in 2000, this course boasts a wealth of hazards, including numerous bunkers and lakes, demanding precise ball-striking and accurate placement. While perhaps considered less daunting by seasoned players, its narrower fairways and water features at every turn will still require your utmost concentration. Beyond the greens, our unique, pyramid-inspired clubhouse provides the perfect place to relax. Enjoy a delightful meal from our diverse F&B outlets, offering Chinese, Western, Japanese, and Thai cuisines, all while taking in breathtaking views of the finishing holes. Come experience the best of golf and hospitality at Kelab Golf Sarawak.

Depart for Borneo rainforest kayaking. This is a ‘must-do’ experience for nature lovers and anyone yearning for a little bit of adventure. You will be transferred to the mist-covered highland hillsides of Borneo, through undulating terrain dotted by small scale pepper farms, to Bengoh, a delightful Bidayuh village and staging point for journeys by foot or river deep into the interior. Here you'll be given paddling instructions and a safety briefing before proceeding down some steps to a small tributary where your parked kayaks await you. This shaded stream with overhanging trees, steep banks, and a bridge overhead, has just enough room for your kayaks to get through, and meanders a short distance before opening into the vista of Sungai Sarawak Kiri.
A quarter of the way through your float down the river, you’ll alight to explore a delightful Bidayuh village, and have a Bidayuh style native lunch followed by Bidayuh cultural dance demonstration. After which, continue your kayaking, which will be a slightly relaxing journey from here surrounded by lush vegetation on both banks, to a sandy bank beneath soaring limestone hills, but not before getting past an ‘exciting’ class 1 to 2 (depending on the water volume and flow) rapid! After a swim you’ll continue along, enthralled by the ever changing and stunning scenic views of limestone hills around each bend in the river. Just before the end of your journey, you’ll paddle beneath a huge rock outcrop, which turns into an unexpected waterfall on rainy days. After all that, return back to your hotel.
