Fast becoming the new golf destination in Asia, Siem Reap offers something quite breathtaking for the golfing tourist. There are three quality courses on offer and approximately 100 temples that await the traveller. Angkor Golf Resort is Cambodia’s best golf course, recently voted in the “Top 10 Best Maintained Course” in Asia Pacific by readers of Asian Golf Monthly. Designed by Sir Nick Faldo this challenging and highly enjoyable course is built to test the seasoned professional golfer through to the weekend holiday golfer. A challenging yet fair test of golf situated in the most spiritual places on earth. Angkor Lake Resort is the newest course in Siem Reap and provides the golfer a gentler test, with wide fairways and flat bunkers. However, don’t be complacent the opening hole is a testy par 5. Most famous for the Angkor Wat temple, Siem Reap also boasts a varied amount of restaurants, night markets to satisfy the most avid of shoppers to a plethora of hotels to suit all budgets. Bordering the Great Ton Le Sap which in itself is a wonder of the World, the largest fresh water lake in Asia, travellers can enjoy day trips to the floating villages and ideally enjoy the terrific sunset whilst downing an ice cold Angkor Beer. The very popular Pub Street set in the heart of the old French Quarter, remains the biggest pull for travellers where they can enjoy frosted glass beer for 50 cents in the many bars that make up this cheerful little street. Golfers will enjoy Siem Reaps cool climate from December through to mid March.
